Larry Smith: Fog is thick as a brick Larry Smith called ColumbiaMagazine.com a few minutes ago on his morning commute to The WAVE FM 92.7's studio and transmitter atop the Russell Creek Hills to warn everyone about driving conditions. "The fog is thick as a brick," he said. "It's the thickest layer of fog I've seen in years. I have to roll down the window and hang my head out to see if a car is coming." At the time he had just safely made the perilous turn from Greenhills Road onto Kentucky 80 east. Usually, he said, the worry about fog is around Green River Lake and the drift whichever way the wind is blowing - usually northeast. "This is different," he said. "It's everywhere." However, he wouldn't say, even with coaxing, that the fog is one for the World Record Book of Guinnesses. "I've seen worse," he said. "But this is bad. Real bad."
