Marian Helm Smith awarded Doctor of Nursing Practice

Columbia native, Marian (Helm) Smith graduated from the University of Southern Indiana, Evansville, during the Forty-Second Annual Commencement Exercises on April 27, 2012. Marian was awarded the Doctor of Nursing Practice degree during the Awarding of Hoods Graduate Ceremony.



Marian's research and practice emphasis is Organizational and Systems Leadership in the area of Advanced Practice Nursing.

Marian holds a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Western Kentucky University, a Master of Science in Nursing and post-graduate certifications from the University of Louisville. She currently serves as Chair of the Division of Nursing at Lindsey Wilson College. She is a 1980 graduate of Adair County High School.

She is married to the Rev. Dr. Jay Smith and has a 17-year-old son, Jericho She is the daughter of Charles and Eulah Helm of the Garlin Community. She grew up on T.P. Cundiff Road.
