KY 55 closed at Green River Bridge: Fatality accident

Update: 7:03amCT. KY 55 has been re-opened. The accident appears to have been a head-on collision. One occupant, believed to have been a female, is reported deceased. Names of those involved will be released by the Taylor County Sheriff's Department pending notification of the next of kin.

Larry Smith called from en route to Radio Station WHVE, The WAVE 92.7 FM. He was delayed by a fatality accident at on KY 55, Campbellsville Road in Taylor County, KY, which occurred at around 6amET.

"The Campbellsville Police Department called me to ask that we alert everyone to avoid the Green River Hills. I'm suggesting that travellers take the drive across Green River Dam to avoid the accident scene. Alternately, the Tebb's Bend Road would work for lighter vehicles - because of the rickety old bridge." Smith said the Taylor County Sheriff's Department is working the accident.

The WAVE and ColumbiaMagazine.com will keep everyone posted as developments reported.
