The menu appears to be a very early one, based on the note at the bottom ("The Circle R Drive-In Restaurant is a new organization...") and the fact that the prices match those in the full-page ad which ran in the Wednesday, July 4th, 1956 edition of the News. This was the first newspaper advertisement for the Circle R, which had opened eight days earlier on Tuesday, June 26th.

In early 1957, the owner, Mr. W.R. Wooten, "incorporated" the Kingburger name; the paperwork thereof may viewed in Adair County Miscellaneous Record Book 3.

The original employees:
Mr. and Mrs. Marshall Rowe, managers;
Mrs. John Pendleton, dietitian;
Joyce Lee and Diana Thompson, car hops; and
Betty Hoover and Faye Pelston, inside waitresses. --jim

Hung at Ol' Joe's BBQ: A Circle R menu

2012-04-22 - 824 Campbellsville Road, Columbia, KY - Photo from the collection of Charles & Yvonne Marshall.
When Kingburgers at CR were 45 cents: There's no date on the framed menu, but the prices were right reasonable at the Circle R then. The framed menu in the gallery of historic photos, a regular picture museum at Ol' Joe's BBQ, featured the Circle R's famous doubledecker Kingburgers for 45 cents. Those fabulous Steakburger plate lunches were 80 cents, and cold drinks and bottomless cups of coffee, 10 cents. The original recipe Kingburgers are still sold at the Circle R. Ol' Joe's just completed another busy two day run, with the crew resting up in the aftermath, briefly, before getting ready for their next Friday-Saturday opening, Derby Weekend, Friday-Saturday, May 4-5, 2012.
