JIM Gem: Priceless provenance - CR menu hung at Ol' Joe's BBQ Menu is In the Beginning, right after the late Ruel and Runa Wooten, created the Circle R; prices match those in full-page ad in the Adair County News on Independence Day, 1956. This Jim GEM includes the fascinating tidbit that the Kingburger name being "incorporated." Click on headline for story with photo(s) By JIM The menu appears to be a very early one, based on the note at the bottom ("The Circle R Drive-In Restaurant is a new organization...") and the fact that the prices match those in the full-page ad which ran in the Wednesday, July 4th, 1956 edition of the News. This was the first newspaper advertisement for the Circle R, which had opened eight days earlier on Tuesday, June 26th. In early 1957, the owner, Mr. W.R. Wooten, "incorporated" the Kingburger name; the paperwork thereof may viewed in Adair County Miscellaneous Record Book 3.
