First of all, I just want to say how proud I am of Dakota Meyer and that he is from Columbia!

Today is the kickoff of the Kentucky Derby Festival. This afternoon is the air show, and then tonight the world's biggest fireworks, Thunder over Louisville. Dakota Meyer is going to be the Thundernator, for the fireworks show.

As Thundernator, he will be the only one who will push the button to set it off.

This is one beautiful fireworks show. If you have never seen it, you just cannot imagine what it is like seeing it for the first time. I have been to all of them except for the last two years. I never failed to have chills seeing all of the aircraft.

I remember the first time I saw the Stealth Bomber. It was awesome.

THis year the theme is going to be Star Spangled Blast, a salute to the Marine Aviation 100th Anniversary and the 70th anniversary of World War II's battle of Midway. The fireworks consist of 56,215 shells, 250 tons of launching tubes, and two million pounds of sand, 700 miles of cable and dozens of computers.

The command control center is at the Galt House and they have two barges which have all of this stuff on them. Each barge goes off at the exact time with each blast.

The most beautiful part of the show - at least my favorite - is when the water falls from the Second Street Bridge. There are thousands of people who make it to the water front every year to watch it, good weather or bad. Every year there are between 400,000-600,000 people! They always show up!

It is an all day event with the air show starting at 2:25pmET, and the fireworks are at 9:30pmET.

This year, when the waterfall from the bridge goes off, it will have a sound track of men marching and foot steps can be heard - just awesome!

If you have never been to Louisville and enjoyed this wonderful pleasure, it is a thing of beauty and very heartwarming and makes one just so very proud to be an American. - Von Price
