News from Lindsey Wilson College COLUMBIA, KY - The Lindsey Wilson College football team caps the 2012 spring season with kickoff for the intra-squad scrimmage is 1:30pmCT. Saturday, April 14, 2012, with the annual Blue-White Game at Blue Raider Stadium, inside Lindsey Wilson Sports Park, 820 Hanley Lane, Columbia, KY. Saturday's game marks the first time in the program's short history that the Blue Raiders will field two full teams. The program's first two spring games featured an offense versus a defense in a modified scoring system. Lindsey Wilson College football coach Chris Oliver is excited about previewing his 2012 team on Saturday. "Spring practice has gone well and we are eager to show our fans the hard work we have put in over the last two weeks," LWC football coach Chris Oliver said. "Guys have really been able to focus on their technique and competition and play a more physical level of football. "We've got better at the fundamentals not having to worry about getting ready for an opponent and just worrying about ourselves," Oliver said. "We are better on both sides of the football and I'm pleased with our progress." Admission to the game is at least one non-perishable food item that will be donated to the Adair County Food Pantry. In addition to the game, the Lindsey Wilson football program is involved in the Be The Match Campaign, a national effort to recruit bone marrow donors. The football program has pledged to recruit at least 200 potential new donors as part of a national effort to register a minimum of at least 5,000 potential bone marrow donors. Registration includes completing a health history form and giving a swab of cheek cells. Additionally, Lindsey Wilson football has set a goal to raise $5,000 towards the cost of administrating the tests. Thousands of patients with life-threatening diseases such as leukemia need a marrow or umbilical cord transplant, but they don't have a matching donor within their family. Those patients depend on the Be The Match Registry to find someone to give them hope for a cure. Registrants need to meet health and age guidelines and be willing to donate to any patient in need. Donors from racial and ethnic minorities are especially needed. Donations can be made to the Be The Match Foundation by visiting Be The Match Foundation. Following the Spring Game, students from second through eighth grades can participate in the inaugural Lindsey Wilson College Football Punt, Pass and Kick contest. Students may participate by donating one non-perishable food item. Participants will receive coaching from the LWC coaching staff as well as current Blue Raiders during the event.
