The story of those Meadow Hill Inn Postcards

Comments re photo 44543 Meadow Hill Inn Columbia KY favorite old postcard of submitted by Wally Burress.

By Maxine Walker

My late husband, Bill Walker, had these postcards made soon after the opening of Meadow Hill Inn on Easter Sunday of 1947.

If my memory serves me right the black car on the left near sidewalk belonged to Bro. Moody, Baptist Church minister, and black plymouth beside green car was Dr. Mercers. The black truck at the back door belonged to Joe Acree, the chef at that time and I think the lady walking toward the restaurant was Ruby Allison.

This may have been Rotary night. Notice the glass brick windows which had neon strips shining through as well as the soda fountain, also the neon lit Sealtest Ice Cream sign made it one of the brightest spots in Columbia. Thanks for the memories. --Maxine Walker
