AC Public Library open more, has new programs

Special computer classes start April 10, 2012. Library receives eight new laptops and eight new desktop computers. AND - a big one: The library will be offereing ebook service starting in May. Borrowers will need e-reader device such as: Barnes & Noble Nook, Kindles, Sony eReader, MP3 Players, and many others

The Adair County Public Library will be offering extended hours beginning April 2, 2012 to better serve the public. The library will be open Monday through Friday from 8am-5pmCT. and on Saturday from 8am-12pm noon CT.



New computer classes

The library is also excited to announce the beginning of special computer classes. The first class will begin April 10, 2012 and will begin at 5:30pmCT.

Class titles will be Basic Internet, Navigating Websites, Email, Microsoft Word, Resumes, On-Line Job Searching and Applying for Jobs On-Line. All of the classes are part of the two year BTOP Grant (Broadband Technology Opportunities Program) which the library received in 2011.

These classe are offered to those who are seeking employment, those who want a better job or to those who just want to know about computers. Each month two classes will be offered with classes beginning at 5:30pm and ending at 7:00pmCT.

Sixteen new computers arrive

The library received 8 new desktop computers and 8 new laptops for this project. The library will also be receiving a computer that will be specifically configured for the visually impaired. For more information, please call the library at 270-384-2472 and ask for Lee Ann. Sign ups begin immediatley and space is limited. The library is located at 307 Greensburg Street, Columbia,Kentucky.

E-Book service starts May 2012

The library will also be offering ebook service beginning in May 2012. In order to check out ebooks, patrons need an ereader device (NOOK, Kindle, Sony Ereaders, MP3 players, etc.) and a library card. Watch for more information on this exciting new service! --Lee Ann Jessee, Director
