CU staff member receives BSA Silver Beaver Award Past Silver Beaver Award recipients in the Campbellsville area include: Floyd T. Kern News from Campbellsville University Amanda Smith, has been awarded the Silver Beaver Award from the Boy Scouts of America Lincoln Heritage Council. Smith is the wife of Gary E. Smith. They have two sons, Eagle Scout Steven T. Smith and Second Class Scout Nicholas C. Smith. Smith is secretary to vice president for finance and administration at Campbellsville University. Past Silver Beaver Award recipients in the Campbellsville area include: Floyd T. Hensley Jr., 1991; Julie Caldwell, secretary for special projects at CU, and Robert Miller Sr., 1992; Dr. Robert L. Doty, retired CU English professor, 1993; Robert L. Miller Jr., 1994; Dr. Robert Street, professor of computer information systems at CU, 1996; Dwayne Cutt, 2003; Dr. Steve Hinton, 2006; and Otto Tennant, vice president for finance and administration at CU, 1996 from the Ohio Council. The Silver Beaver Award, introduced in 1931, is a council-level distinguished service award of the Boy Scouts of America. Recipients of this award are registered Scouters who have made an impact on the lives of youth through service given to the council. Silver awards are the highest awards in the BSA. Smith started in Pack 616 in 2001 where she began as a Den Leader and eventually took the role of Committee Chair. Her involvement later moved to Pack 777. She has served as committee chair, Webelos Den Leader, Assistant Cubmaster, Tiger Den Leader, Pack Trainer and Pack Treasurer. Smith has also served with the Day Camp staff and served as the director in 2004. She has been a member of the District Program Committee, Cub Scout Roundtable Commissioner, Family Friends of Scouting Chair, District Committee Chair and Cub Scout Training Chair.
