Larry Legg announces resignation from CAUD Board "I've been on the water board for a long time. I'm just happy that a lot of people now have water who didn't have it when I began my time on the board." -LARRY LEGG He credits bipartisan effort with board's success. By Ed Waggener Larry Legg, whose tenure on the Columbia/Adair County Water Board spans almost two decades, called Friday night March 9, 2012, to ColumbiaMagazine.com to tell us that he would be turning in his resignation to Adair County Judge Executive Ann Melton this morning, Monday, March 12, 2012. At the suggestion of former Judge Executive Richard L. Walker, the announcement was delayed until after Judge Ann Melton would be contacted. Judge Melton was contacted by phone and confirmed that Mr. Legg had contacted her, and said that she had no problem with the announcement being made public. Mr. Legg said, "I've been on the water board for a long time. I'm just happy that a lot of people now have water who didn't have it when I began my time on the board." He was appointed by former Adair County Judge Richard L. Walker in 1993, shortly before Judge Walker also appointed former water board member Doug Sapp. Legg credits that appointment as the catalyst which provided the impetus to the growth which has made the Columbia/Adair County Water District what it is today. "It was the bi-partisan effort which did it," he said. "I worked with my Republican friends. Doug worked with the Democrats. We didn't care which party got the credit, just so the people of Adair County got a water system which worked." This story was posted on 2012-03-12 08:02:03
