Salvation Army, Adair Co. Unit, holds volunteer appreciation luncheon Click on Headline for full story with photos By Ellen Zornes News from the Salvation Army, Adair County Unit The Salvation Army recently held its annual volunteer appreciation luncheon in lieu of its regular meeting on Tuesday, March 6, 2012, where each volunteer was recognized with an appreciation certificate and internationally recognized red Salvation Army Bell. We would like to express a most heartfelt 'thank you' to our community for its generosity and continued support of our programs. Without our community support, the Salvation Army could not survive and could not serve our community. The Salvation Army Adair County Unit's volunteer of the year was received by Adair County High School student, Noah Richard for his many hours spanned across several days and evenings of ringing the familiar Salvation Army Bell during the Christmas season. Also, special recognitions were made to agencies who have exhibited ongoing support of the Salvation Army: Columbia Medical Services, IGA and Walmart. The Salvation Army is a nationally recognized non-denominational Christian charitable organization. Locally its focus is meeting community needs through various programs, including Fire Assistance, Angel Tree, Senior Angels, Summer Camp, Christmas Kettles and local Disaster Relief. State wide and nationally, the Salvation Army assists in disaster stricken areas while locally our Salvation Army Unit continues its work year long and always appreciates donations that are used for Adair County residents, just mail to: Salvation Army; P.O. Box 1085; Columbia, KY 42728. The Adair County Unit meets at 9amCT on the first Tuesday of each month in the Courthouse Annex basement, 424 Public Square, Columbia, KY. Anyone interested in becoming a member may join by attending any monthly meeting. -Ellen Zornes This story was posted on 2012-03-08 01:47:48
