From Spain, concern for Knifley, KY Hovious Homeplace

Comments re article 50458 New relief effort will lend assistance to Morgan County KY
CM doesn't have a photo of the Hovious Homeplace right handy, but here's a link to one of the Old Knifley Christian Church to tide homesick Knifleyans over: OldKnifley Christian Church from Paul Patton.

Richard Hovious writes:
Ed. Watching TV here in Spain over the weekend---they were showing tornados approaching different areas---a little shocked to see the identity under one "funnel"- Columbia, Kentucky! The current condition of our old house in Knifley (seriously hit by the '47 storm) could be inspirational. --Richard Hovious
Thanks, Richard Hovious. We're remiss in not getting nearly enough pictures from our - mine and your - ancestral homeland: Knifley.

I'm told, majestic views can be seen of the city from the ridge higher o'er the downtown. The last time I was up there - too long ago - it was to take photos of what is the Adair County equivalent of Hoover Dam engineering by Junior Brown, the KHD, et al, to keep your little creek from undercutting KY 76 toward Quinn Hollow. At that time, your homeplace was a beautiful work of preservation, something I think you would be very proud of.

However, I don't know who the Mayor is up there - Darrell Baker, Gayla, Kim Farmer or the COF - but whoever it is is derelict in not putting up a Historical Marker to Knifley's first rocket scientist. That's a pitiable shame, I tell you. An impeaching is in order. -EW

PS: Hope some Knifleyans, Roleyites, Feathersburgers, Mt. Tusselers, Yumans, Robinson Ridgers, and/or Clementsvillians will hope us out by sharing some pictures and stories, historical or otherwise, from The Land Above the River. Our thanks to Bro. Paul Patton for the most recent, a photo of the old Knifley Christian Church. -ED
