New relief effort will lend assistance to Morgan County, KY

The Adair County Way: Even with huge headaches from the storm in Adair County, the community is mobilizing to help neighbors in Kentucky and Indiana whose plight is so many, many times worse.

By Ed Waggener

Adair County Magistrate Billy Rowe (District 7) along with Day & Day Feed and Pet and Rogers Trucking, are coordinating a relief effort to Morgan County. Items listed in other relief efforts, ( See Greg Thomas, Rhonda Loy send updated Storm Damage Donations List) plus cooler, may be left at Day & Day from 7:30amCT-5:30pmCT, starting today, Wednesday, March 7, 2012 and running through Wednesday, March 14, 2012.

Mr. Rowe is coordinating with officials in Morgan County, including CJE Tim Conley and working with magistrates, including Magistrate Frankie Spencer, who've advised that the shipment should arrive in West Liberty on Saturday, March 17, 2012. "They told me they just aren't set up well enough yet to handle the supplies earlier," Rowe said.

He had learned that the reason water is not being needed is that Walmart is contributing truck loads of bottled water to meet that need. "But they need coolers," he said. "They desperately need coolers."

A Rogers Trucking Company truck will be parked at Day & Day Feed and Pet, 1011 Campbellsville Street, Columbia, KY, for items to be loaded as received. "I called Leisha Breeding at Rogers Trucking, and without hesitation, she offered the van," Rogers said. "What we'll do is take the loaded truck to West Liberty and leave it with relief coordinators there."Billy Rowe's mobile phone is: 270-250-2730.
