Kentucky Arts Council offers new local fund raising program Seminars offered for how to use Power2give.org/Kentucky to raise funds By Ed Lawrence The Kentucky Arts Council, in partnership with the Fund for the Arts in Louisville, announces a series of workshops to introduce the online fundraising and marketing tool power2give.org/Kentucky. Kentucky nonprofit organizations can use this online tool to market arts-related projects and raise funds toward budgets up to $10,000. Projects must be approved by the Fund for the Arts, and 12% of project budgets will go toward Fund for the Arts' administration of the program. Projects are posted for 90 days, and matching funds may be available from a variety of sources. The Kentucky Arts Council provides matching funds for power2give.org/Kentucky projects posted by current Kentucky Arts Partnership organizations. The initial success of the site has exceeded expectations. The site was launched December 5, 2011, by the Fund for the Arts, and in the first 84 days the program generated $322,000. More than 650 donors made gifts to 122 projects posted by 55 different organizations. Building upon the program's strong initial success, and with the intention of encouraging more organizations to post more projects from more counties across the Commonwealth, the arts council is bringing information about power2give.org/Kentucky to a town near you. Workshop participants will learn best practices for using the online tool to successfully raise funds for their important projects. To register for any of the workshops, contact: Amber Sexton, Director,, Data Integrity and eCommerce, Fund for the Arts, Phone 502-582-0128 or email; asexton@fundforthearts.com. Workshops will be held as follows: March 13, 2012, 11:30am-1:30pmET: The Carnegie Visual and Performing Arts Center, 1080 Scott Boulevard, Covington, KYThe Kentucky Arts Council, the state arts agency, creates opportunities for Kentuckians to value, participate in and benefit from the arts.
