The twelfth annual Read Adair County held Thursday evening, March 1, 2012, proved to be as much fun as always. The approximately 800 people were treated to stories read by such well known characters as Amelia Bedelia, Curious George, Little Red Riding Cowboy Hat, The Lorax, The Gingerbread Boy, the Three Little pigs and local characters such as Sheriff Harrison Moss, Adair County Middle School Literature Students and LWC students.

Also The Cat in the Hat, face painters, WKU Big Red, BINGO for Books, bookmark making and the Bake Sale Table for the Academic Teams were all kept busy as well as our sign in and pizza server volunteers. The evening ended with the top Accelerated Readers in each school recognized with medals.

We would like to thank Adair County Elementary School for hosting Read Adair County, Pizza Hut and Title I for the pizza, IGA for the drinks, Sonic and Wendy's for cups, Homemakers for the cookies, Adair County Public Library Board and Columbia Rotary Club for food service, Lindsey Wilson College Division of Education, Adair County Public Library, Adair County School Librarians and our Family Resource Centers for reading and activity rooms.

Due to the efforts of so many people, we were able to celebrate the importance and love of reading!
