Walmart manager cool, calm, collected during tiring ordeal Carla Thomas, store manager, was on top of situation throughout follow up to storm striking store to reopening in little over one half day after company sent two clean-up crews. Store was reopened at 8:10amCT, Saturday morning. Columbia Store Manager Carla Thomas deserves Special Thank You! Richard Raines writes Richard Raines writes Thanks so much for posting message (on Walmart Pharmacy remaining open) for me!! Fortunately, as I got to the car to go to work, I got a phone call from my district manager that there had been 2 cleanup crews (80 some people) in the store overnight, and that he had gotten a phone call that they should be ready to open the store about 8:10amCT. Contractors were working on temporary replacements for skylights (I guess until new ones could be installed). I saw store manager Carla Thomas going past still wearing the clothes she was wearing Friday, so I suppose she had a LONG day and night Friday until she was able to go home and get some well deserved rest. I think she deserves a special "thank you" for the way she handled the situation, directed assistant managers, kept in contact with emergency crews for advice on the approaching storm, and kept her calm and kept everyone else calm. - Richard RainesThanks, Mr. Raines. The community is impressed and so thankful. It was amazing to watch the teamwork, the professionalism, the incredible Walmart logistics magic at work. Yes, a Special Thank, You, Carla Thomas, is the least we can say. -EW This story was posted on 2012-03-04 17:58:59
