Mr. Edward Alvin Pierce, 89, of Greensburg, KY, departed this life on Thursday, February 23, 2012 at the Golden Living Center-Green Hill, Greensburg, KY. .

The funeral services for Mr. Edward Alvin Pierce will be conducted at 11amCT, Saturday, February 25, 2012 at the Cowherd and Parrott Funeral Home, 206 S. Main Street, Greensburg, KY, with burial to follow in the Greensburg Cemetery. Bro. Mark Graham and Bro. Keith Clements will be officiating. Visitation is requested from 3pm-8pmCT, Friday, February 25, 2012, at the Cowherd and Parrott Funeral Home and after 7amCT Saturday until time of the funeral service.



Edward Alvin Pierce, Green County, KY (1922-2012)

Mr. Edward Alvin Pierce was the son of the late George Al Pierce and Mary Ada Stearman Pierce. He was born Saturday, July 18, 1922 in Green County, KY and departed this life on Thursday, February 23, 2012 in Greensburg, Green County, KY. He was 89 years, 7 months and 5 days of age.

He had made a profession of faith in Christ and was a Member and Deacon of the Beech Grove Baptist Church. He was a WWII Veteran having served in the United States Army. He was also a self-employed Carpenter.

He united in marriage to Lorene Meadows Pierce on March 16, 1947 who preceded him in death on June 15, 2009.

Survivors include the following:
  • A daughter and son-in-law: Ada Mae and Larry Handy of Greensburg, KY

  • Three granddaughters: Cathy Froggett and her husband Alan of Greensburg, KY; Laura Handy and her companion Adrain Starks of Florida, and Stacy Matney and her husband Tony Jr. of Greensburg

  • Five great-grandchildren: Adriauna Handy, D'Ante Starks, Mason Froggett, Laurian Starks, and Raelyn Matney

  • A sister-in-law: Cymbelene Meadows of Greensburg, KY

  • And a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Mr. Pierce was also preceded in death by a brother and three sisters Ray Pierce, Dee Wieble, Violet Darnell, and Helen Milby.

Memorials are suggested to Mt. Gilead Baptist Church Building Fund, Beech Grove Baptist Church Building Fund, or Hosparus of Central Kentucky, which can be made at the funeral home.
