Adair Salvation Army had record Christmas Kettle donations

Over $5,000 raised. Proof of the importance of the Salvation Army came in a poignant scene when a family whose belongings were wiped out by fire were taken on a shopping trip to help replace their loss - while volunteer bell ringers attended Christmas Kettles outside store doors. Article below tells about the organizations, and individuals who've helpd so much, about the upcoming Volunteer Luncheon, and for those who would like to do so now: How to make a donation to this outstanding organization. -CM

News from the Adair County Unit, Salvation Army

On behalf of the Adair County Unit of the Salvation Army, we would like to thank all the many community persons, churches and organizations including Beulah Chapel Brethren in Christ, Columbia Christian Church, New Life for the Nations, Trinity United Methodist Church, Law Enforcement and Emergency Services Personnel, Columbia Rotary Club, ACHS National Honor Society and Beta Club, Taylor Regional Medical and numerous individuals as well as our media outlets. And, of course, Walmart and IGA who assisted us with this year's Christmas Kettles, our major fundraising effort.

A record year for Columbia/Adair County Christmas Kettle donations

Because of your service and our community's generous donations, we raised $5,000.00!

This is the most we have ever received through our Christmas Kettles. It comes at a time when so many are in need due to the current economic situation. Without your help we wouldn't be able to serve our community when their need arises.

A poignant moment on Christmas Eve

A particularly poignant time came on Christmas Eve when the bells were being rung outside Wal-Mart at the same time that our Welfare Assistance Chair was with the mother of the family of that morning's house fire purchasing much needed clothes and items for the family. Because of your generosity we are able to be there when help is needed most.

You can still give to the Salvation Army

If you were unable to give to the Christmas Kettles but would like to make a donation, just mail it to: Salvation Army; P.O. Box 1085; Columbia, KY 42728. Donations are used for Adair County residents. Adair Co. Salvation Army Volunteer Luncheon
