Stanley C. Jones, 78, Columbia, KY (d. February 12, 2012)

He was one of Adair County's most admired citizens and the patriarch of a highly guarded Adair County family. He was a member of the Air Force, where he served his country for 20 years, the Columbia VFW Post 6097, the VFW Funeral Honor Guard, and the Green River Bee Keepers. He was also a factory worker at Parker Kalon for 20 years.

Stanley C. Jones, 78, of Columbia (Kellyville Community), died Sunday, February 12, 2012 at the Jewish Hospital in Louisville, KY.

Funeral Services will be Wednesday, February 15, 2012 at 10amCT, at Grissom-Martin Funeral Home in Columbia, with Bro. William Davenport officiating. Burial will be in Mt. Carmel Cemetery, with full Military Honors presented by VFW Post 6097. Visitation will be after 3pmCT, Tuesday, February 14, 2012.



Casket bearers: Johnny Pike, Sammy Hitch, Harrison Moss, Jeff Biggs, Danny Wilkinson, and Terry Akin.

Honorary Casket Bearers will be his grandsons

Stanley Jones was born October 31, 1933 in Cumberland County, KY. He was the son of the late Lenis and Tinie Estes Jones. He died Sunday, February 12, 2012, in Louisville, Jefferson County, KY, at the age of 78 years, 2 months, and 15 days.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one brother, Clayton Jones.

He was a member of the Air Force, where he served his country for 20 years, VFW Post 6097, the Funeral Honor Guard, and the Green River Bee Keepers. He was also a factory worker at Parker Kalon for 20 years.

Survivors Include:
  • His wife: Shirley Dudley Jones of Columbia
  • One son: Bobby (Hanne) Jones of Altus, Oklahoma
  • Two daughters: Cathy (Jimmy) Luttrell of Hodgenville & Tricia Janes of Columbia
  • Three brothers: Marcus & Randall Jones of Columbia & Harry Jones of Crestwood
  • One sister: Margaret Gale Hurt of Louisville
  • Five Grandchildren: Garrett & Jeremy Luttrell, Zachary & Christopher Janes & William Turner


Grissom-Martin Funeral Home, 200 Campbellsville Street, Columbia, KY, is in charge of arrangements.
