I just climbed the very nice new Well Walk - or whatever we are calling it - stairs, the new steps leading from the Square to Adams Alley, City Hall and the Municipal parking lot.

They are great.
But they are littered with cigarette butts.

I can't for the life of me see any excuse for that.

I think the city or nearby merchants should provide receptacles for the the litter, and I dearly hope they do.

But until that happens, and whenever their cigarettes run out no matter where they are, the smokers could at the very least field strip their butts and pocket the filters if there are any.

So this is a call both for the city to provide some place to park cigarette remains and until that happens for the smokers to find an alternative to littering the city's sidewalk and stairways
