Filing deadline, May 22 primary is 4pmET/3pmCT, Jan. 31, 2012 By Lynn Sowards Zelllen News from Kentucky Secretary of State Alison Lundergan Grimes Candidates who wish to be placed on the ballot for the Tuesday, May 22, 2012 primary election must file their candidacy papers by 4pmET/3pmCT on Tuesday, January 31, 2012. Candidates for the following public offices must file with the Secretary of State's office:
"More than 170 candidates have already filed," said Secretary of State Alison Lundergan Grimes, "and we anticipate more will file leading up to the deadline." Secretary Grimes recommends candidates file in advance of the deadline in case documents are not acceptable; there currently is no opportunity to correct or re-file paperwork after 4 p.m. on January 31.
