Click on headline for full story plus headline By Chris Wells News from Lindsey Wilson College KANSAS CITY, MO - Lindsey Wilson College men's soccer coach Ray Wells has been named the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics Men's Soccer Coach of the Year by both the NAIA and the National Soccer Coaches Association of America. Wells was named both Brine-NAIA National Coach of the Year and NSCAA-NAIA National Coach of the Year at this weekend's NSCAA national convention at the Grand Ballroom of the Kansas City Convention Center. "This is an incredible honor and I am grateful to the NSCAA for this prestigious award," Wells said. "This honor is a reflection of a collaborative effort of a student-athletes and coaching staff along with the support of the Lindsey Wilson College administration and the Columbia community. I accept this award on the behalf of those who have supported us this season." Wells earns his seventh Brine-NAIA National Coach of the Year and his fourth NSCAA-NAIA National Coach of the Year award. He has been named national coach of the year following the 1995, 1996, 1998, 2000, 2001, 2005 and 2009 seasons. This season, Wells led the Blue Raiders to a perfect 23-0 record and the NAIA National Championship in early December in Orange Beach, Ala. The title is the ninth in the program's history. In his 22 seasons as Lindsey Wilson coach, Wells has led Blue Raiders to a 424-67-22 overall record. In 29 collegiate seasons as a head coach, Wells has a 496-103-32 record. In addition to winning the nine national titles -- 1995, 1996, 1998, 1999, 2000, 2001, 2005, 2009 and 2011 -- Wells has guided the men's soccer program to 19 conference titles and 17 conference tournament championships. At Lindsey Wilson, Wells' teams have reached the NAIA National Tournament 19 times in 22 years, including appearances in the NAIA National Championship game nine of the past 16 seasons, where the Blue Raiders have never lost.
