Fire on Scott Street, Columbia, KY damages kitchen

House located on street between Tutt Street and Bomar Heights, just over a mile from the Columbia/Adair County Fire Department, 201 Merchant Street, Columbia, KY

The Columbia/Adair County Volunteer Fire Department responded to a house fire at 603 Scott Street, Columbia, KY, at 10:43amCT, Monday, January 9, 2012. Upon arrival heavy smoke was coming from the kitchen area. The fire was quickly extinguished with extensive damage to the kitchen, and moderate smoke damage to the remainder of the house. The property was owned by Rex and Lisa Handy. There were 16 firemen on the scene for approximately 35 minutes. -Brandon Minton, Assistant Public Relations, Columbia/Adair County Fire Department
