Louise Durrett Hodges, Green Co., KY (1939-2012)

She was a lifetime member of Oak Forest Cumberland Presbyterian Church, but actively attended Sand Lick Separate Baptist Church. She is widely remembered as a beloved singer and piano player with the Durrett Family Singers.

Louise Durrett Hodges, 72, Greensburg, KY, departed this life Thursday, January 5, 2012 at Norton Hospital in Louisville, KY.

Services will be at Oak Forest Cumberland Presbyterian Church, Green County, KY, at 1:30pmCT, Sunday, January 8,m 2012, with Rev. Doug Baldwin, Rev. Robert Knight and Rev. Richie Curtis the officiating clergy. Visitation will be after 3:30pmCT, Saturday, January 7, 2012. Interment will be in Wilson Cemetery, Summersville, KY.



Pallbearers: Cody Scott, D.J. Hodges, Drue Hodges, Nick Paxton, Jason Beard, Shannon Durrett, William, and Lewis Hodges.

Louise Durrett Hodges, Green Co., KY (1939-2012)

Louise Durrett Hodges was born Tuesday, October 3, 1939 in Green County, KY. She was the daughter of the late Otha Thomas Durrett and Lura Milby Durrett. She departed this life Thursday, January 5, 2012 at in Louisville, KY, having attained the age of 72 years, 3 months and 2 days.

Mrs. Hodges had made a profession of faith in Christ and was a life-long member of Oak Forest Cumberland Presbyterian Church but actively attended Sand Lick Separate Baptist Church. She was a singer and piano player with the Durrett family singers.

Besides her parents, she is preceded in death by five brothers: Hyman, Jeff, Buford, Ancil "Bug" and Vurnis "Dink" Durrett. She was a retired CNA having worked with Lifeline for twenty years.

She is survived by her husband T. J. Hodges of Summersville, KY, and the following:
  • One son and two daughters: Doug Hodges and his wife Kathy Karen Paxton and her husband Terry and Jennifer Scott and her husband Coy all of Summersville, KY

  • One brother: Calvin "Toad" Durrett and his wife Delia of Summersville, KY

  • One sister-in-law and brother-in-law: Adele and Joe Martin of Louisville, KY

  • Two sisters-in-law: Linda Hodges of Summersville, KY; and Betty Lou Lile of Greensburg, KY

  • Six grandchildren: Nick and Diann Paxton, Anne and Jason Beard, D. J. Hodges, Drue Hodges, Cynthia Scott and Cody Scott

  • Four great grandchildren: Braeden Paxton, Brylee Paxton, Jasey Beard and Kaylee Shofner

  • Three step great grandchildren: Kyle, Cody and Kane Wilson, plus a host of other relatives and friends.
Expressions of sympathy may be made in the form of donations to the Sand Lick Separate Baptist Church or the Wilson Cemetery. These can be made at the Foster-Toler-Curry Funeral Home.
