Bill Collins: Gulf is back; Somerset Refining gets new owners Gulf Brand is now owned by Cumberland Farms Comments on Signs of Times: Gulf Oil sign is back By Bill Collins, guest writer Thanks for the article on the Gulf station. Gulf's motto is "the legend returns"Gulf LP is owned by Cumberland Farms and they are making a return in the eastern US and Texas. I know the employees at this store are trying very hard to offer great, friendly service and would appreciate all you Columbians' business. Stop in and see them and tell them they saw the picture in Columbia Magazine. When I was attending (then) Campbellsville College, we bought all of our gas from Mr. Everett Lee in Campbellsville at EtheringtonGulf. His son (Henry) is now CEO and President of Taylor County Bank. Just think, he got his start working for his dad pumping gas. As a side note, one of the owners and directors of Cumberland Farms just purchased the refinery in Somerset and it is going to be called the Continental Refining Company. -Bill Collins This story was posted on 2011-12-30 15:05:47
