Robert Gentry, Adair County, KY (1925-2011)

Mr. Gentry was a highly respected merchant and community leader in Ella, KY, were he operated Gentry Grocery on KY 206 for many years. He was a member of Hood Masonic Lodge No. 839

Robert Gentry age 86 years of Sulphur Creek Road, Columbia, KY passed away Sunday, December 25, 2011 at 2:49amET, at Lake Cumberland Regional Hospital in Somerset, KY.

Funeral services will be a 1pmCT, Tuesday, December 27, 2011, at Stotts-Phelps-McQueary Funeral Home, 210 Greensburg Street, Columbia, KY with Bro. David Coffey and Bro. J. Richard Lehman officiating. Interment will be in Haven Hill Cemetery, 1276 Liberty Road, Columbia, KY. Masonic Rites will be conducted Monday evening, December 26, 2011, by Hood Masonic Lodge No. 839. Visitation will be after 4;30pmCT, Monday, December 27, 2011.

Pallbearers: Adan Gentry, Daryn Gentry, Phillip Stargel, Marvin Gentry, Rick Kerns, and Woody Goodin.

Robert Gentry, Adair County, KY (1925-2011)

He was born Tuesday, September 1, 1925. He was the son of the late John Christopher and Flora Montgomery Gentry. He died Sunday, December 25, 2011, in Somerset, Pulaski County, KY, at at the age of 86 years, 3 months, and 24 days.

He was preceded in death by his wife Pauline Goodin Gentry on April 8, 2008.

He is survived by the following:
  • One son and daughter-in-law J. C. and Dora Gentry of Columbia, KY

  • Two grandchildren: Adan Gentry and wife Reta; Daryn Gentry and Jean

  • Three great grandchildren: Kourtney Gentry, Kallie Gentry and D. J. Gentry

  • Three step great grandchildren: Aloria Ray and Isabella Ray.

  • One brother: Marvin Gentry, Columbia, KY

  • Care givers: Fay Cook and Aalene Cochran

  • Several nieces, nephews, host of other relatives and friends
He was also preceded in death by three sisters: Marie Satterly, Eula Pike, and Elizabeth Rogers.

Robert and his wife owned and operated the Gentry Grocery on KY 206 in the Ella Community of Adair County. He was a member of Hood Masonic Lodge No. 839.

Stotts-Phelps-McQueary Funeral Home, 210 Greensburg Street, in charge of funeral arrangements.
