Melissa Keith awarded scholarship to attend SCC

Melissa J. Keltner Keith of Columbia was awarded a scholarship to attend Somerset Community College for the fall 2011 semester. She plans to pursue an Associate of Applied Science degree as a physical therapist assistant.

Keith is married to Clay L. Keith, of Columbia, KY, and has three children, Anthony, Johnathon and Dylon. Keith is the daughter of Weldon and Lois Keltner of Columbia and the daughter in law of Betty and Olie Clay Keith of Fairplay, KY.



Keith graduated from Adair County High School in 1988. She currently serves as a student ambassador for Somerset Community College, a American Physical Therapy Association Core Ambassador, a 2012 Kentucky Physical Therapy Association Liaison and a youth choir leader for House of Prayer. After receiving her Associate in Applied Science degree from SCC, Keith plans to complete a bachelors in health care management and then her doctorate degree to become a physical therapist.

The scholarship Keith received was funded by Lake Cumberland Regional Hospital. The scholarship was established in 1996 to provide scholarships for students in allied health programs. -MELISSA HORSEMAN, Somerset Community CollegeSomerset Community College is a two-year institution of higher education.
