Guest Commentary: Let Mike Newton, LWC do it

Lindsey Wilson gets it money's worth; writer advocates getting them to build new elementary school and also take over Westlake

By Ralph Roy Waggener, Editor/Publisher It's Just for a Smile News

Personal Opinion Commentary

If I were going to build a new school, and if I were representing the Adair County taxpayers on the Board of Education. There are three things I would do:

  • First I would tell the Kentucky State Board of Education's Building and Grounds Division to take a hike unless they were willing to let us get our money's worth in a new building

  • Secondly, I would contact Lindsey Wilson College President Bill Luckey for advice on how to build and get full money's worth and to have a much better building than Buildings and Grounds would ever let us have

  • Thirdly, I would use LWC's best kept secret, Mike Newton, who built the new Nursing building named after one of Adair's favorite sons, Dr. Bobby Goodin, and his wife
This nurses building is to me the best looking building on the LWC campus and if I understand it right, Lindsey Wilson, got the most bang for its bucks and Mr. Newton is the primary reason this happened.

If you are given a choice would you not yourself try to get the most for your dollars?

I'm betting you would.

Would you be intimidated by the bullies from Frankfort's Board of Education and spend your fellow Adair County taxpayers' money very unwisely.

Even a better idea: turn Westlake over to Lindsey Wilson College and then see if LWC will take over the Board of Education, at least until a new school building can be built at a responsible price! - Ralph Waggener
