LW's Oliver named AFCA Region 1 Co-Coach of the Year Click on headline for story plus photo By Chris Wells News from Lindsey Wilson Athletics COLUMBIA, KY - Lindsey Wilson College football coach Chris Oliver has been named American Football Coaches Association 2011 Region 1 co-Coach of the Year, AFCA officials announced on Tuesday, December 6, 2011. Oliver led the Blue Raiders to a 7-3 overall record and a 3-2 record in the Mid-South Conference East Division during the 2011. In his two years at Lindsey Wilson, Oliver is 12-9. Lindsey Wilson closed out the program's second season with a 48-15 win at home over UVa.-Wise on Nov. 12. With the win, the Blue Raiders increased their win total by two games over their five wins during the inaugural season of 2010. Oliver's Blue Raiders received votes in the NAIA Coaches' Top-25 Poll five different weeks this season, including in the final regular season poll. Lindsey Wilson received six voting points from the national raters to finish as one of three teams in the receiving votes category in the final poll. Oliver shares the award with Georgetown College's Bill Cronin who led the Tigers to a 10-0 regular season and the MSC East Division title. Georgetown ended the season 12-1 after a 35-3 loss to Carroll College in the national semifinals. The regional coach of the year award is the first for Oliver who started the Lindsey Wilson program from scratch. Prior to becoming Lindsey Wilson's head coach, Oliver served on the Ohio Dominican University coaching staff for five seasons, including three seasons as the offensive coordinator.
