Soccer: 4 LW Women win Daktronics-NAIA honors Recognized nationally as scholar-athletes: Ida Gregerson, Heini Metsola, Mia Persson, and Saeda Sueki By Chris Wells, Sports Information Director News from Lindsey Wilson Athletics COLUMBIA, KY - Four Lindsey Wilson College women's soccer players were named 2011 Daktronics-NAIA Women's Soccer Scholar-Athletes, National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics officials announced on Friday, December 2, 2011. Lindsey Wilson seniors Ida Gregersen and Heini Metsola and juniors Mia Persson and Saeda Sueki were among 485 women's soccer student-athletes to earn the honor. The award is reserved to those student-athletes that have achieved at least a junior academic standing and maintained a 3.50 grade point average on a 4.0 scale. Gregersen and Metsola earn their second NAIA Scholar-Athlete award while Persson and Sueki earn their first national academic honor. All four student-athletes were named Academic All Mid-South Conference earlier this season. Gregersen is a communication major from Randers, Denmark. She concluded her playing career with 39 goals and 44 assists in her 90 matches. She was the 2010 MSC Player of the Year and a two-time NAIA All-American and a four-time all-conference selection. Metsola is a business administration major from Helsinki, Finland. Metsola earned all-conference honors each of her four seasons. She finished her career appearing in 90 games with six goals and five assists from her defender position. Persson is a communication major from Sjobo, Sweden. She was selected as the 2011 MSC Player of the Year. Persson is a two-time NAIA All-American and a three-time all-conference selection. She led the Blue Raiders with 16 goals this season. For her career, Persson has 41 goals and 20 assists in 69 matches. Sueki is a human services and counseling major from Sakura, Japan. Sueki earned all-conference honors in 2009. She has 14 goals and eight assists in three seasons with the Blue Raiders. The quartet helped Lindsey Wilson finish the season with a 19-1-2 record.
