Hershel Bailey, age 73 years of Bloomington Church Road, Columbia, KY passedaway Wednesday, November 30, 2011 at 1:45amET, at Lake Cumberland Regional Hospital in Somerset, KY.

Funeral services will be Saturday, December 3, 2011 at 1pmCT, at Stotts-Phelps-McQueary Funeral Home, 210 Greensburg Street, Columbia, KY, with Bro. Vitus Bailey the officiating clergy. Interment will be in the Redmon Cemetery, 4269 Allen Schoolhouse Road, Columbia, KY. Visitation will be after 3:30pmCT, Friday, December 2, 2011.


Hershel Bailey, Adair County, KY (1938-2011)

He was born on Friday, March 4, 1938. He was the son of the late James Alfred and Mary Burton Bailey. He died Wednesday, November 30, 2011, in Somerset, Pulaski County, KY, at the age of 73 years, 7 months, and 26 days.

He is survived by the following:
  • Two daughters: Emily Bernard and husband Tony of Columbia, KY; and Kristie Hunt and husband Jonathan of Campbellsville, KY

  • One son: Marty Bailey of Summer Shade, KY

  • Two brothers: Melvin Bailey of Columbia, KY; and B. J. Bailey of Westport, IN

  • One sister: Alice Jackie Burton of Florida

  • Seven grandchildren

  • Several nieces, nephews

  • And a host of other relatives and friends
Preceded in death by one grandson: Kasey Lynn Bailey in 2010; andby one brother and four sisters: Arthur Bailey, Bertha Barker,Cleda Bridenstin, Eva Callam and Marie Toler.

Mr. Bailey was a machinist

Stotts-Phelps-McQueary Funeral Home, 210 Greensburg Street, Columbia, KY, in charge of funeral arrangements
