Virginia Ruth Starnes, Casey Co., KY (1932-2011)

She was the matriarch of a large, respected family. She leaves 49 direct living descendants. She was a devoted homemaker, a talented seamstress, and a member of the Poplar Springs Baptist Church

Virginia Ruth Starnes passed away Tuesday November 22, 2011 at the Gallatin Health Care in Warsaw, KY. She was 79.

Funeral services will be at 2pmET/1pmCT, Saturday ,November 26, 2011 at McKinney-Brown Funeral Home, 752 Campbellsville Street, Liberty KY, with Bro. William Pittman officiating. Burial will be in Durham Cemetery. Visitation is Saturday, November 26, 2011, from 12pm noon ET/11amCT until service at the funeral home.


Virginia Ruth Starnes, Casey Co., KY (1932-2011)

She was born Friday, May 6, 1932 in Casey County, KY. She was the daughter of the late Luther Pittman and Nettie Durham Pittman Hatter. She died Tuesday, November 22, 2011, in Warsaw, Gallatin County, KY, at the age of 79 years, 6 months, and 16 days.

She was a homemaker, seamstress and member of the Poplar Springs Baptist Church.

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Ed Starnes, Sr. and a grandchild.

Survivors include the following:
  • Four sons: Eddie (Alice) Starnes, Jr. of Florence, KY; Anthony Raymond (Kathy) Starnes, Sr. of Florence, KY; Rudy Thomas (Janice) Starnes of Warsaw, KY; and Max Farrell Starnes of Florence, KY

  • Four daughters: Judy (Glenn) Perkins of Dry Ridge, KY; Maudie (Phillip) Jones of Barbourville, KY; Monalisa (Kevin) Miller of Warsaw, KY; Brooke (Scott) Pennycuff of Owenton, KY

  • Four brothers: Bennie Pittman of Ohio, Danny and Larry Pittman both of Florence, KY; and William Pittman of Indiana

  • Two sisters, Bessie Smith of Mt. Salem, KY; and Gloria Dean Bastin of Middleburg, KY

  • Eighteen grandchildren

  • and 23 great-grandchildren
