WILLIAMSBURG, KY - Haley Ratliff scored 17 points on 4-of-9 three-point shooting and Dace Bicane went 5-for-6 from the field to tally 13 points as the University of the Cumberlands refused to let the 14th ranked Lindsey Wilson College women's basketball team pull off a comeback as it won 66-48 on Monday in the Mid-South Conference regular-season opener at the O. Wayne Rollins Center.

Senior Ashley Franklin led the Blue Raiders with 12 points, while freshman Monny Niamke and sophomore Jasmine Brimm joined her in double figures with 11 and 10 points, respectively.

Neither team could gain an advantage early in the game, all the way up until the score was tied at 14-14 with nine minutes to play in the first half.

Then Cumberlands took over the next five minutes, going on an 8-1 run aided by threes from sophomore Jackie Alexander and Ratliff to gain a 22-15 lead.

The Patriots increased the advantage to nine by the end of the first half behind a balanced effort from Ratliff with nine points and Bicane and Moss adding eight points each.

Luckily for the Blue Raiders they were able to stay in the game with the Patriots hitting just 4-of-13 shots from behind the arc in the half. Conversely, Lindsey Wilson had a strong showing from the outside, knocking down 3-of-7 threes.

The second half couldn't have started better for Lindsey Wilson as Cumberlands scored the first two points before the Blue Raiders went on an 11-0 run to tie the score at 32 all seven minutes into the half.

With Ratliff on the court for Cumberlands no comeback is safe as the senior continued to knock down shots from behind the arc to put the Patriots right back up by 11 with under four minutes to play.

It was tough for either team to play defense tight down the stretch as Niamke had four fouls and three Patriots were on the court with four fouls as well.

With the shot clock winding down senior Jade Howard made the situation even worse for Lindsey Wilson as she hit a contested three to put Cumberlands up by 14 and help it take control the rest of the way.

Cumberlands dominated on the glass 37-23, including a 15-9 advantage on the offensive boards.

Both teams struggled holding onto the basketball as Lindsey Wilson committed 20 turnovers and the Patriots lost the ball 19 times. Still, Cumberlands issued 15 assists, compared to just five for the Blue Raiders.

Cumberlands outshot Lindsey Wilson 42.3 percent to 33.3 from the field and was consistent from the charity stripe, knocking down 15-of-18 free throws for 83.3 percent.
