Adair County FFA Soil Judging team qualifies for Nationals

By Abby Royse
Adair County FFA Reporter

I would like to report that our FFA Land Judging Team has once again qualified for national competition.

The team, composed of Dustin Pegg, Lyle Cooney, Jarret Martinez, Devin Gould placed 5th in state competition at Hardinsburg, KY, this past week.

The national contest will be held in May in Oklahoma City, OK.

Each of the 11 FFA regions had sent their top two teams to the competition. In the contest, students analyze plots of land and core samples of soil to determine the land's class and make recommendations for conservation practices.

The contest is sponsored by the Natural Resources Conservation Service (NRCS), Ky Farm Bureau, and Farm Credit Services. - ABBY ROYSE
