LWC Women swimmers top Bethel, lose to Rhodes LWC standouts: Stephanie Davis, Sarah Wood, Kate Spaulding, and Deah Reese Next in Columbia, KYLWC Women's Swimming Team hosts tri-meet with visiting Campbellsville (KY) University and University of the Cumberlands (Williamsburg, KY) at Holloway Natatorium, 299 Williams Street, Columbia, KY at 5:30pmCT, Saturday, January 13, 2012. -DAN WHITE By Dan White COLUMBIA, KY - The Lindsey Wilson College women's swimming team cruised past Bethel (McKenzie, TN) University 50-17 and lost to Rhodes (Memphis, TN.) College 74-19 on Saturday afternoon in a home tri-meet at the Holloway Center Natatorium, 299 Williams Street, Columbia, KY. In the 200-yard medley relay to open the day the Blue Raiders finished second in two minutes and 6.49 seconds, while Rhodes took the top place in 2:04.08. Freshman Stephanie Davis gave Lindsey Wilson another second-place finish in the 200-freestyle with a time of 2:10.61, just under two seconds behind Rhodes' Lauren Miller who touched in 2:08.96. Newcomer Sarah Wood finished second in the lengthy 500-free with a time of 5:45.08, while Rhodes' Kelsey Wilson took top honors in 5:29.09. Freshman Kate Spaulding battled to a second-place finish in the 100-breaststroke with a time of 1:13.59, just under a second behind Elizabeth Medved from Rhodes who took first in 1:12.74. In the final event of the day, the Blue Raiders notched a national "A' cut in the 800-free relay with a time of 9:09.97 turned in by Davis, sophomore Deah Reese, Spaulding and Wood. -DAN WHITE This story was posted on 2011-11-20 06:03:56
