BLOOMINGTON, IN.- It was a busy day for the third ranked Lindsey Wilson College wrestling team as it took part in the IU Quad hosted by Indiana University on Friday facing Central Missouri University, Calumet College of St. Joseph and Indiana.



The Blue Raiders finished 2-1 on the day, topping Central Missouri 32-15, Calumet College 49-0 and losing to Indiana 36-11.

The Jennies of Central Missouri gave up forfeits at 197 pounds and heavyweight, while Lindsey Wilson opted out at 133 pounds to give the Blue Raiders a 12-6 lead before matches began.

Sophomore Ian Stephens provided the most points with six for Lindsey Wilson at 184 pounds after pinning Travis Miller five minutes and 14 seconds into the match.

Senior Charlie Pingleton tallied a 16-3 major decision against Scott Neumann at 157 pounds and sophomore Andy Lenz recorded a 10-1 major against Kirk Luzano at 125 pounds.

Against Calumet College the Blue Raiders simply dominated, registering five pins for 30 points.

Both teams forfeited at 133 pounds and Calumet had no entries at 174 or 197 pounds, but in the rest of the matches in was all Lindsey Wilson.

Wins by fall included DaMonte Riley at 141 pounds against Chad Allen (1:32), Scott Flesher against Javier Avalos at 149 pounds (4:56), Aaron Back at 165 pounds against Mark Daugherty (1:26), Stephens over Eric Johnson at 184 pounds (2:51) and at heavyweight Teddy Furnish pinned Coty Anderson in 1:07.

Pingleton improved to 2-0 on the day with another major decision against Johnathan Tyler at 157 pounds 16-6 and Lenz won his second straight match by a 9-5 decision against Anthony Hawkins at 125 pounds.

In the final match of the IU Quad against Indiana the Blue Raiders had a mixed bag of results.

While the Hoosiers won seven of the 10 matches, the three Lindsey Wilson wins were tallied in strong fashion.

Facing NCAA Division I member Indiana, sophomore Isaac Thomas showed resilience early, winning 7-5 in overtime against Matt Ortega at 141 pounds. Pingleton made sure he finished with a perfect day on the mat at 157 pounds by posting a 16-8 major decision against Ryan Konz.Stephens rounded out the Blue Raider wins with a 10-0 major decision against Cheney Dale at 184 pounds to also finish 3-0 at the IU Quad.Sophomore heavyweight Derek Nickel wrestled to a close 5-3 loss by decision against Jowan Gill in his only match of the day, while newcomer Aaron Edington was pinned by All-American Matt Powless in 2:12 at 197 pounds. -DAN WELLS
