Bakeries in the Bluegrass, re: Fig Jam

Tami Wilson writes:
Hi Pen,

Love fig jam, with a cheese and fruit plate!

Wondering if you've ever been to Bluegrass Baking in Lexington. If you have not been, you should check it out next time you're in town and they're open. They have wonderful artisanal breads, pastries and desserts, and are locally owned. I think you'd really appreciate the quality of their goods.

They are on Clay's Mill at Wellington- in a small shopping center, and they are fabulous. They don't have a lot of room for a group to enjoy the goodies there, only a couple of small tables for two inside, and a few more outside. They do take cards.

Oh, also there's European Delights just down from Man O' War on Nicholasville Rd. They're in the big shopping center on the left (if heading out of Lex). There's a Red Robin burger joint near it in the same area. This place does have seating for small groups. Stunning cakes and pastries!! All butter, no shortening! BTW Bluegrass Baking is very "pure" in general, but does use shortening in the pie crust...

Happy eating, --Tami Wilson
Tami, Thanks for writing -- we haven't tried them yet, but they're now definitely on our list!
