Victory Bowl creates opportunity for CU broadcasting students This is an exciting opportunity for our students. KEITH SPEARS Click on headline for full story plus photo(s) By Katie Johnson News from CU Sports Information CAMPBELLSVILLE, KY --The National Christian College Athletic Association (NCCAA) Victory Bowl, hosted by Campbellsville University, on Saturday, November 19, 2011, will create a unique opportunity for broadcasting and digital media students in the courses MAC 275 and MAC 175. Students involved from MAC 275 include: Susie Gaona of Springfield, Ky.; Caleb Harris of Chicago, IL; Michael McBride of Visalia, CA; and Don Smith of Campbellsville, KY. Those from MAC 175 include: Tyler Bland of Campbellsville; Leah Franklin of Columbia, KY; Justin Henderson of Greensburg, KY; Lindsey Hines of Scarborough, MA Michael McBride of Visalia, CA Matt Payton of Campbellsville; Matt Rafferty of Campbellsville; Nicole Sassenberg of Bradfordsville, KY; Matt Schmuck of Campbellsville; Kevin Thomas of Elizabethtown, KY; and Austin Yates of Campbellsville. The CU Sports network will expand for this event to include both mass communication students and staff. The Victory Bowl is a national invitational bowl championship game that will result in widespread coverage. Crew call for the students is 11amET, for those working with the live television broadcast on WLCU-TV, Campbellsville Cable Channel 10. Students from both classes will be involved in the set up of equipment, run-through, operation during the game and tear down. In addition to live game coverage, students will provide postgame coverage of the championship. Students from MAC 275 will also broadcast live before the game on WLCU 88.7 FM with on-location interviews from 11am-12pm noon ET. "It can be a great career-builder for them. Very few mass communication students have this chance to include such an important body of work in their portfolios," Spears said. Kickoff for the game is scheduled for 1pmET, with the CU Sports Network radio broadcast beginning at 12:30pmET with long-time college football broadcaster Jim Freeman and Adam Smith.
