Special to CM story

If you were on Columbia's Square the morning of November 6, 2011, here are a few things you might have seen: a thief, an infant, a mob and a man being pulled in a wheelchair.

Although this doesn't sound like something you would normally see on a Sunday morning in downtown Columbia, this was just part of the day for Ramie Hutchison and Travis Smith. The two local video producers have set out to produce a commercial for the "Crash the Super Bowl" contest, sponsored by Doritos. The top five commercial submissions will air during the 2012 Super Bowl and receive a cash prize. The requirements for the commercial are that it be funny and original.

"I saw the contest advertised on Youtube and thought 'why not give it a shot," said Hutchison. "Travis and I work together creatively on a regular basis so this was just another day to us." Hutchison then called Smith with the idea and with in 72 hours they had confirmed a location (Pablo's Mexican Grill), a crew and a concept.

Within three hours they had the commercial shot and within another four days Ramie and Travis had the final cut ready. "We think we've got a good chance to make it to the top 5," says Smith, videographer for Lindsey Wilson College. "We put in a lot of physical and mental effort into the shoot and it paid off."

"I can't give enough credit to our crew. They helped us out voluntarily and went above and beyond what we asked them to do," reiterated Hutchison. The commercials' cast and crew include Elaina Andrew, Miranda Roy, Michael Roy, Rachel Miller, Evan Hutchison (All of Russell County), Joe McKinley, Jacob McKinley, Nita Hesford (All of Adair County) and Kelly Barry (Hardin County).
