COLUMBIA, KY - Mia Persson scored a goal in the 29th minute and assisted on another just over two minutes later to lead top seeded Lindsey Wilson College over eighth seeded University of Pikeville (KY) 3-0 on Saturday, November 5, 2011, in the first round of the Mid-South Conference Women's Soccer Tournament at Walter S. Reuling Stadium, Columbia, KY.

The Blue Raiders held the Bears without a shot attempt, while taking 32 of their own with 20 on goal to overpower Pikeville.

Bear goalkeeper Chelsea Schutle was busy all night, collecting 16 saves in over 82 minutes before Jamie Mullins took over the rest of the night to finish with one save of her own.

Freshman Ester Dam Simonson got the start in goal for Lindsey Wilson as she went the distance to pick up her first shutout of the season in her first career start.

Persson issued the game-winning goal on a rebound off her own miss. Schulte pushed the powerful shot from close range back into the box by Persson's feet, allowing the junior to finish off the scoring opportunity.

Just over two minutes later, Persson played a perfect pass across the box to a running Malin Sjoback who touched the ball into the back of the net to record her third goal of the season.

Freshman Katarina Simic scored the final goal of the game in the 74th minute off a cross from junior Hanna Jonsson. The goal was Simic's fourth of the season, while the pass was Jonsson's third assists on the year.

The Blue Raiders simply dominated possessions against the Bears, finishing the game with a 7-0 advantage in corner kicks. -DAN WHITE.
