LW Men's Swimming Pulls off Sweep at Saturday's Tri-Meet

Coach Alicia Kemnitz' Blue Raider swim team defeats both Berea College and Warren Wilson College at Lindsey Wilson's Holloway HWC

By Dan White
News from Lindsey Wilson Athletics

COLUMBIA, KY - After losing a close meet to Asbury University of Wilmore, KY on Friday night, the Lindsey Wilson College mens swimming team used the sting of defeat as motivation as it blew Berea (KY) College and Warren Wilson College, Swannanoa, NC, out of the water on Saturday morning in the Holloway Health & Wellness Center Natatorium, 299 Williams Street, Columbia, KY.

The lopsided results included a 70-10 win against Warren Wilson and a 72-12 decision against Berea as the Blue Raiders used a mix of talent and sheer numbers to put the competition away.

Out of the 11 men's events swam in the meet, the Blue Raiders had the winning swimmer in all of them, including two wins by relay teams.

A win in the 200-yard medley relay started off the day as juniors Logan Wetzel, Owensboro, KY; and Daniel Lyle, sophomore Corey Hall and freshman Will Alvey touched in one minute and 46.82 seconds to take first place.

Freshman Connor Lyle picked up a win in a mixed field of six in the 1,000-freestyle with a time of 10:47.84, while Wetzel paced the 200-free in 1:54.23 and Hall finished behind him in second with a time of 1:55.34.

Newcomer Luke Royal was a winner in the 50-free (23.14 seconds) and Connor Lyle (55.37) and Hall (57.83) finished back-to-back in first and second place in the 100-butterfly.

Royal earned another win in the 100-free with a showing of 51.94 seconds, while Daniel Lyle wrapped up the individual wins on the day in the 100-breast (1:04.20). -DAN WHITE.
