LW women swimmers beat Berea, edged by Warren Wilson Sophomore Swimmer Deah Reese of Jamestown picks up first collegiate swimming win. Stephanie Davis, won in 200 yard freestyle. Sarah Wood, Bowling Green, KY, took first place in 500 yard freestyle. By Dan White COLUMBIA, KY - Lindsey Wilson College got its first dual win in womens swimming program history with a 56-14 decision against visiting Berea College, Berea, KY in a tri-meet with the Mountaineers and Warren Wilson College of Swannanoa, NC on Saturday morning, October 29, 2011, at the Holloway Health & Wellness Center Natatorium, 299 Williams Street, Columbia, KY. The Blue Raider came up short against Warren Wilson 55-40 in just the second meet in womens swimming history at the college. Freshman Stephanie Davis, Ft. Knox, KY, got things going for the Blue Raiders early with a win in the 200-yard freestyle with a time of two minutes and 15.85 seconds. That was followed up by her classmate Kate Spaulding, a freshman from Springfield. finishing second in the 200-individual medley, touching in 2:28.31. Sophomore Deah Reese, Jamestown, KY picked up her first collegiate swimming win in the 100-backstroke with a time of 1:17.03 and newcomer Sarah Wood, a freshman from Bowling Green, KY took first place in the 500-freestyle with a time of 5:46.19. Spaulding topped her earlier second-place finish with a win in the 100-breaststroke, finishing in 1:13.95, which was more than seven seconds faster than the nearest competition. The Blue Raiders wrapped up the meet with a win in the 200-free relay as Davis, Spaulding, Reese and Wood turned in a winning time of 1:52.29. -DAN WHITE This story was posted on 2011-10-31 03:18:08
