Joe Hare: Let's all pull together

Writer calls for more unity, more accommodation, more getting along with each other
Comments re article 47663 Was Adair County in running for jobs which Glasgow got

By Joe Hare

Personal views and commentary

Of course we were not in the running for these or any other jobs.

We have all been too busy bad mouthing each other. Those favoring us being wet are all looked on as on a fast track to hell.

The ones against alcohol sales are believed to be too ignorant understand the impact about the dollars would bring to Adair County.

Then we have the smokers vs non-smokers. A big percentage of the non-smokers making the most noise are people who have moved in here because of our lifestyle and just don't understand, or don't want to, the effect of tobacco or our economy.

If you liked the slower pace of our community when you moved here, why are you trying to change it?

We also have a certain number of folks who must be Communist, as they believe that their way of thinking is the only truth and want to impose it on everyone. The best I can tell this is still America we all have our rights.

Along this line of thought, it does nothing to bring our community closer together or help to solve any issue for anyone as living in the dark ages I wonder why any who thinks that way moved here.

As I see it, everyone has the right to smoke or not smoke, drink or not drink, and to have his own opinion on any subject the same as I do, but it is ignorant to run down Adair County if you want to live here and make it a better place to live.

By the way, the companies which have looked at Columbia will tell you that we do not have an qualified work force.

If you can get information from Glasgow I will bet that you would find that the building was given to the company and more than likely other perks to get them to locate there. Have we offered any companies such a package?Let Pull Together
-JOE HARE
