One day, Adair County, KY will become noticeable Says local leaders have become too complacent on the way things are rather than how great things could happen. Comments re article 47663 Was Adair County in running for jobs which Glasgow got By Andrew Cowan Personal commentary of the author If I had to make an uninformed guess, I would lean toward the notion there was nothing done to promote Adair County for this possible prospect or any other possible new businesses looking to locate facilities here. Yes our officials say, "We are working to get job here" but are they really? Have they become too complacent on the "way things are" and are not really pushing to help Adair County? Sure we (the officials) can always get another fast food restaurant or another pharmacy (as if we don't have enough already) and say, "Look, we got a new business. Look at what a good job we did!" If we really want to open Adair County up for new industries or businesses, we must challenge our officials to promote and recruit. Who runs the local government anyway? Our elected officials are, as are those who are currently making profits from Adair Countians, and tell new prospects, "No we don't need another business. it would take away from our profits." We (Adair County) need to challenge our officials to do more than to just "sit" in office. Tell them we want jobs, industries, and more. Make them recruit more than restaurants and pharmacies, and help those industries locate here and simple regulations instead of complicated sure we would like for you to come here, now here is everything you need to do including your first born child to locate here. Until then, don't expect Adair County to be in the news because a new big business has located here until something is changed to make businesses locate here. I've given my 2-cents worth of an opinion, which is all it is. One day, Adair Co will become noticeable. -ANDREW COWAN This story was posted on 2011-10-19 08:50:59
