Wonders if censoring is going on at CM?

The writer, Brandon Thompson, is sales manager for radio station WAIN, Columbia, KY and is now leading a well-received Dave Ramsey class in Columbia. We thank Brandon Thompson for his advice and counsel and for taking the time to share his philosophy of journalistic standards. -EW

Brandon Thompson writes:
Ed, I messaged you earlier about the wet/dry issue. I've not seen it on the site. All I see are pro-alcohol sales comments. Are you censoring your site now to only include view points you agree with? Just wondering. Thanks.-BRANDON THOMPSON.
Thanks, Brandon Thompson. No. We're not censoring your letter (though we have every right to do so with a privately owned media). We are controlling the traffic and refereeing to maintain Civil Discourse, which is our right under the American Free Enterprise system, I thought. Just remember this: We aren't Bolsheviks. This is America, after all.

Actually, the preponderance of mail we've received is pro-legal, controlled sales of alcoholic beverages, but only a vote will tell when the inevitable will happen.

The majority of people I talk to think a vote should be taken and the majority tell me they favor legal control. Fact is, we're pedalling as fast as we can. Your letter is in the queue.

As we see it, a vote on the subject is a no-brainer, and we prefer legal control to the present system, with all due respect to Bootleggers - we've always had the best - the people who honestly believe that prohibition has ever worked, and the outside liquor interests who want to continue to profit from our hypocrisy.

As we see it, this is not the major issue facing Columbia/Adair County.

As we see it, it is a no-brainer to follow suite on what other communities around us are doing. It won't directly change our tax revenues. But it can marginally be an improvement over the current system.

And, oh yes, this is a privately owned, advertising and underwriter supported website, if that is any indicator of who has the final say on our programming. Your letter will be posted shortly, maybe later today. -ED WAGGENER
