Letter: Some semis will always be needed on the Square

Comments re article 47574 Two lanes of traffic will no longer be needed on SquareMark Hale writes:
We will still need room for semi trucks on the square unless every business which gets deliveries on the square from semis plans to meet them out on the bypass to get their stuff. Also businesses just off the square which get semi deliveries will need to be able to get them as well. Sorry, but those blasted semis will still have to access the Square at times. We could just outlaw semis all together after all if we need something we just go to the store and get it anyway right. LOL. - MARK HALE
Note: Your message exactly coincides with what Billy Joe Fudge said, at least the way I read it. He was saying that part of the reason for needing two lanes - confusing to drivers, very, very, dangerous to pedestrians - has been to allow semi's room to get around the Square without hitting the courthouse. Those who work on the Square know that is a frequent occurence. As for truck driving, that profession is a backbone of the economy calling in Adair County. At CM, we think there ought to be law requiring at least U.S. Cabinet post specifically for truck drivers. We're convinced the last person to sign off on a road project would be a Truck Driver with a CDL. -EW
