Lloyd Edward (Ed) Poynter, Metcalfe Co., KY (d. Oct. 3, 2011)

He was a member of a large, respected, Metcalfe County family. He leaves 32 direct living descendants. He was a member of the The Shepherds House Church and employed at L-S Supply in Edmonton for over 50 years as a plumber and backhoe operator.

Lloyd Edward "Ed" Poynter age 70 of Edmonton died Monday October 3, 2011 at his home.

Funeral services will be held at 2pm, Thursday, October 6, 2011, 2:00 at Butler Funeral Home, 201 East Street, Edmonton, KY, with burial in the Metcalfe County Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be from 4pm-8pmCT, Wednesday, October 5, 2011 and after 9amCT, Thursday at the funeral home.



He was the son of the late Cecil and Clemitine England Poynter.

He was a member of the The Shepherds House Church and employed at L-S Supply in Edmonton for over 50 years as a plumber and backhoe operator.

He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Frances "Pat" Brown and the following:
  • Three sons: Farron (Betty) Poynter of Temple Hill. Ronnie (Rhonda) Poynter and Jolane (Rita) Poynter all of Edmonton, KY

  • One daughter: June (Tommy) England of Edmonton, KY

  • Fifteen grandchildren

  • Thirteen great grandchildren

  • Eight brothers: Von (Rosie) Poynter and Rev. Glenn (Betty) Poynter all of Columbus, Indiana; Louie (Kathryn) Poynter of Edmonton, KY; Winford (Charlene) Poynter, Rev. Roger (Judy) Poynter, Terry (Linda) Poynter, Ronnie Poynter and Donnie (Donna) Poynter, all of Glasgow, KY

  • One sister: Linda (Donald) Appleby of Glasgow, KY

  • Many other relatives and friends
Besides his parents he was preceded in death by a sister Patricia Gail Poynter.

Butler Funeral Home, 201 East Street, Edmonton, KY, in charge of arrangements.
