Lindsey Wilson College junior Sharon Ronoh was the first runner to cross the finish line at Saturday's 10th-annual Greater Louisville Classic, held at E.P. "Tom" Sawyer State Park, 3000 Freys Hill Road.

Ronoh ran the five-kilometer course in 17 minutes, 57 seconds -- which gave her the individual title in the small-college race and also gave the resident of Timboroa, Kenya, a personal best time.

Ronoh ran her personal best at the Kentucky state park named in memory of Lindsey Wilson alumnus E.P. "Tom" Sawyer of Metcalfe County, who graduated from the college in 1937. He was Jefferson County judge/executive when he was killed in a car crash in 1969.

The Greater Louisville Classic, hosted by the University of Louisville, attracted more than 2,000 collegiate runners from 96 colleges and universities from 16 states. -DUANE BONIFER. Lindsey.edu
