COLUMBIA, KY - After a start that arguably couldn't have been any worse, the Lindsey Wilson College volleyball team had to find some energy fast in order to turn its fortunes around and put away the University of Virignia's College at Wise 3-1 (20-25, 25-17, 25-16, 25-12) on Thursday at Biggers Sports Center.

The Cavaliers were in charge in the opening set that saw Lindsey Wilson hit a dismal -.029 percentage with 12 errors and just 11 kills. UVa.-Wise took advantage of the mistakes and committed just three errors itself to hit .216 and get the win.

Lindsey Wilson learned its lesson quick, lowering the errors and posting elevating hitting percentages in the next three sets of .238, .379 and .417.

Senior Kayla Koerber led the way for the Blue Raiders with 10 kills and six blocks, while freshman Taylor Hayne added 13 kills and her classmates Sarah Anderson and Sierra Wilkerson chipped in with eight kills each.

Mikaela Anders had the best night of any player attacking for UVa.-Wise with 18 kills on just 32 swings for a .469 hitting percentage and Megan Funk backed her up with seven kills.

For the match Lindsey Wilson hit .231 to improve to 18-1 overall and 4-1 in the Mid-South Conference. The Cavaliers finished with a .133 hitting mark as they fall to 5-11 and 1-4 in MSC play.

Needing to find a spark to get things rolling in the match, two elements can be looked at as the catalysts, including the Blue Raiders blocking ability and sophomore Audra McNabney being an offensive threat off the bench.

After the first-set woes, Lindsey Wilson went on to send back a match-high 16 blocks and McNabney got the call on the outside in the third and fourth sets, finishing with five timely kills, two digs and two blocks.

Junior setter Andrea Taylor dished out a match-high 41 assists, while Cavalier setter Veronica Sanchez finished with 33.

Senior Rachael Anderson had a big night defensively with 18 digs, while the highest total for a Cavalier was Lindsey Burke with 12.
