Garden Club is focused on Downtown Days preparations Downtown Days in Columbia, KY, Friday-Saturday, October 7-8, 2011 Click on headline for story, photo(s) By Barbara Armitage News from the Adair County Garden Club The ACGC is getting ready for Downtown Days. This year we are adding to our repertoire. We will be holding a silent auction in addition to our regularly spectacular booth where we sell our famous apple butter and delicious cinnamon rolls. The members have constructed what we call "Yard Folk" kind of an upscale scarecrow for your lawn and garden. I will be sending you several stories over the next week in hopes that we can spark some interest in the community. So what have the Adair County Garden Club members been up to recently? At the last meeting of the ACGC the discussion wasn't focused on flowers and vegetables instead the Chamber of Commerce basement looked like triage after a national disaster. Body parts scattered everywhere, professionals working feverishly to put people back together. The noise was deafening with shouts of "roll him over, grab that foot, she needs a tummy tuck". In one frightening moment I heard a groan "this is not the right head - she must have a new head". Have the gardeners been drafted by the Adair County Rescue Squad? Are they filming a pilot for a new medical show? Have they finally just lost their grip on gardening reality? Stay tuned faithful readers for more of this bizarre and wonderful story. -BARBARA ARMITAGE This story was posted on 2011-09-29 07:21:58
